 As part of a new rehabilitation program, eight troubled young adults are sent to serve a week of community service in a remote California state forest range called Grizzly Park. Under the supervision of the stalwart Ranger Bob, the troubled group is given an opportunity to seek redemption on their journey through the forest. While Ranger Bob seeks to provide both literal and spiritual guidance to the youngsters, an escaped serial killer with an insatiable bloodlust has also found his way into the park with every intention of disposing of anyone in his path. But he is not the only lethal hunter in these woods. |

As a teenager, David Rice (Max Thieriot, young David) lives with his father William (Michael Rooker), after his mother, Mary (Diane Lane), left when David was only five. He has no friends in school except for Millie (AnnaSophia Robb, young Millie), whom he has a crush on, and Mark (Jesse James) in their home town of Ann Arbor, Michigan. When Mark throws a snow globe that he gave to Millie onto a frozen river and David falls through while trying to retrive it, he discovers he can “Jump” – teleport to anywhere on the planet which he's previously visited or visualized from a photograph. His first jump ends him up in Ann Arbor's local library. Using his ability he leaves his childhood home behind and sets himself up in New York City and steals money from a local bank after seeing the inside of the vault and using it as a Jump point. Over the course of the next 8 years, David (Hayden Christensen) lives life to excess, Jumping all across the world and living a consequence-free life.

 Jane Nichols (Katherine Heigl) has been a bridesmaid for twenty-seven weddings. One night when she is attending two weddings almost simultaneously, she is pushed over by a crowd trying to catch the bride's bouquet. A hot man helps her up and introduces himself as Kevin (James Marsden). He helps her to her taxi and brings her home. He is on his way home when he realizes Jane accidentally left her filofax in the cab, and Kevin picks it up. It turns out that Kevin is the person who writes the Commitments page for the New York City Journal, under the pseudonym of Malcolm Doyle, who happens to be Jane's favorite writer. However, he aspires to write larger articles (real articles). After seeing Jane's planner, he decides to write about "the perpetual bridesmaid" so he can advance his career.

 Set in 1976, Jackie Moon (Ferrell) is a singer who uses the profits from his one hit single "Love Me Sexy" to buy a basketball team in the American Basketball Association, the Flint Tropics, becoming the owner, head coach, and starting Power Forward. The ABA Commissioner (David Koechner) announces plans to merge with the National Basketball Association, but only four teams will move to the more established league. The Tropics, the worst team in the league, are in danger of dissolving. In response, Jackie argues that the teams with the four best records overall should be merged into the NBA. After some arguing, the Commissioner agrees to accept Jackie's offer.
